Provide value-added HR support to the Director, Human Resources-Cement and the Harleyville Cement
Operations and Carolina Sales team through the implementation of HR best practices, programs and
policies, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services.
Provide day-to-day coaching and support to managers on a range of issues.
Provide support to Plant/District manager, managers, and supervisors to champion the
implementation of programs, influence behavior and drive change towards a positive work
Identifying issues and opportunities and working with the Plant/District manager,
managers/supervisor to develop action plans to improve the overall performance of the operating
Train and coach management on HR related topics based on individual/group needs including but
not limited to employee relations, recognition, disciplinary actions, HR processes, HR tools, etc.
Maintain relationship with current Collective Bargaining establishment and support employee
relations and labor relations concerning the Union representing the cement facility
Assist with goal setting for the managers and his/her employees and new hires.
Assist the managers, HR-Cement Division with review, and merit process
Participate and work with Management and preparation, review, action plan setting and execution
for the OHR process
Follow up on performance issues identified, with managers and the employees, and work with
management in suggesting plans for improvements to be made
Work with operating management to improve productivity at the business unit level
Works closely with the other Cement HR Managers and HR Sr Director to promote consistency and
collaboration of efforts where logical.
Assists with any projects assigned by HR Sr Director, or HR team
Complete all necessary legal reporting with various government agencies (EEO/AAP/etc) as well as
other internal and external reporting required
Bachelor’s Degree with Business or HR related discipline
Intermediate Excel, MS Office
At minimum 6 – 10 years HR Generalist Experience,Labor Relations experience required, Manufacturing
Environment with Unions preferred, MSHA Experience highly preferred
Time and resource management being able to manage multiple projects concurrently, effective work with all levels of employees, understanding of business basics outside of one’s own functional area
