Position Summary Information
General Description of Position
Reporting directly to the President, the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources will provide vision, direction and leadership to achieve optimal Human Resources services for the college community. The ideal candidate will have a vision and be a champion for strategic talent management practices in a public two year community college setting. Primary responsibilities for this position are to serve as the Chief Human Resources Officer, EEO Officer, legal liaison and Title IX Officer for the College. This position serves on and works closely with Executive Staff to provide direction, support, advice and assistance on all human resources and legal matters. Position also works directly with the College Commission on human resources matters related to the President. The ideal candidate with have integrity, ingenuity, genuine concern for people and the ability to strike the appropriate balance between the rights and responsibilities of the employees and the College. The ability to develop strong partnerships across the college with key leaders and managers in order to foster a climate of inclusion within the work place is essential.
A master’s degree plus five (5) years of progressively responsible related work experience.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws. Demonstrated ability to manage major human resources initiatives and workforce planning in a manner to create value and maintain fiscal sustainability. Demonstrated success as a senior leader with ability to work throughout the organization in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to think creatively and work strategically with internal and external constituencies. Ability to build trust and respect through the college community is essential.
