Description TCG ATL has opened a new job for a Manager of Communications for a client in the Sandy Springs area. With limited strategic direction, the Manager of Communications is responsible for the management and development of corporate communications initiatives, including newsletter publication, production of the annual and quarterly reports, legislative reports, corporate brochures, advertising, electronic media, and public relation. Aimed at enhancing the organizations image among end-use customers, media, bondholders, rating agencies, appointed and elected officials and the public, the Manager of Communications will partner with outside vendors on all corporate communications. The Manager of Communications will also hold the responsibility of planning and executing two large public events as well as a handful of smaller scale events and meetings and will coordinate with outside vendors to see these through to execution. This position is highly visible to internal stakeholders and the public so experience in public relations is beneficial.
Scope of Responsibility:
Manages the consistency, accuracy and continuity of communication information
Interfaces with all departments of the organization, elected and appointed officials, board members, regulatory officials, and the media
Manages the brand and strategizes its evolution and placement
Monitors and identifies legislative priorities
Manages corporate communications budget and Government / Corporate Affairs annual budget of approximately $1m
Manages the strategic and tactical communication and branding plans in support of business activities and objectives
Creates communication tools; publishing the organizations annual report, monthly newsletter, quarterly financials, legislative updates and other special projects
Plans and manages two major functions as well as smaller informational functions throughout the year; coordinates special programs with ally organizations
Monitors and prioritizes state and federal legislative and regulatory initiatives and communicates those to stakeholders to encourage political action
Coordinates contracts with federal and state lobbyists and tracks relevant bills and committees while the Georgia General Assembly is in session
Manages and guides the creative design team responsible for corporate branding and advertising opportunities, including web design and content
Coordinates press releases and other collateral material and handles public media inquiries
Manages departmental staff in the development and ongoing maintenance of the contact database as well as the website
Supervises departments staff in managing departmental budget Requirements Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field
• 5-7 years’ experience in communications or public relations experience
• Experience in the utility industry is strongly preferred
• Background in media relations, meeting/event planning and budgetary responsibility
• Must be poised in meeting the public and have effective communication skills as the position interacts with elected officials and members of the media
• Demonstrated attention to details
• Ability to travel occasionally overnight and weekends
• Social Media experience is a plus
• Graphic Design experience is a plus
