Decision making is within district policy and procedures. Supervision is available via phone as a minimum.
Inspect and monitor the water treatment plant by making daily rounds to ensure proper and efficient operation of water plant processes and equipment and document same.
Operate and control motors, pumps, chemical feed rates to efficiently regulate flow of raw water into treatment plant.
Monitor, sample, analyze and record water and other process parameters including the running of JAR tests as needed for process control and to satisfy regulatory requirements for the proper operation of the treatment process.
Monitor plant equipment, pumps, and instrumentation to assess operating conditions, detect malfunctions and initiate corrective actions through proper writing of work orders needed to address problem conditions and/or equipment operation.
Perform routine repairs or trouble shooting on equipment and assist in preventive maintenance activities as assigned.
Perform routine safety and housekeeping tasks as assigned.
Record information on daily logs and data collection paperwork and/or computer systems as needed to document and communicate operational status, ensure effective tie-ins with shift relief, and provide information needed for further analysis and troubleshooting.
Monitor the operation and status of the distribution system including pump operation and tank levels and take or initiate actions necessary to optimize operation or address problem situations.
Communicate with operations on-call and other personnel to initiate corrective actions in the distribution system when needed.
Recognize, communicate and properly document recurring process and/or equipment problems as well as participating in the generation of possible solutions to such problems.
Monitor inventories of necessary chemicals, reagents and other lab supplies, and other expendable items and reorder when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
HS Diploma or equivalent,
Knowledge of Water plant and Distribution System SCADA systems,
User level knowledge of Win-OPS System,
Proficiency in using E-mail and time card systems
Basic knowledge of Excel and WORD applications, finding and saving files, etc.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Required: Minimum of C Water Operator Certification with progression to “A” level Water Operator Certification within 2 years of filling the position to continue employment.
